Hi, I'm a relatively new user, I've only used my aneros Helix about 4 or five times. The first time I used it, there was a little pain during the session and then the weeks following, there was a small bump on my anus that was painful to the touch. This was about 4 months ago and the bump has still not completely gone away. I have used the aneros maybe 4 more times since then after the pain had subsided with no issue. But the most recent time I experienced a little pain and now there is another bump. Could this be hemorrhoids caused by the aneros? I have used more than sufficient lubrication as well as relaxation techniques. I want to continue exploring but at the moment its a little off putting, so any and all suggestions are welcome.
@xj129,It does look as if you have haemorrhoids but I doubt that they were caused by Aneros use. IMO, it is just co-incidence that they have shown up now but they may have been there for some time without you're even noticing them.
Might I suggest that you get them checked out by your doctor, just to confirm that they are indeed 'rrhoids. If they are something else, you want to know what they are anyway and a doctor would be the best person to give you a diagnosis.
Good Luck!
In addition to Pommie's advice...I might add that the beginners Peridise set might be a better learning solution to get started with...they may also help to relieve the hemorrhoids if indeed that is what the bumps might be.
Almost assuredly you have simply developed a couple small hemorrhoids. The anus is supplied with lots of veins that are right under the anal skin particularly right around where your anal opening "goes in" and up inside about a centimeter. At any time, a small clot can occur in any one of these veins and this feels like a painful little bump either right on the verge of the anal opening, or that you can feel just up inside the anal canal (like if you gently use a lubricated finger and feel just into the anal canal).
These can take weeks to months to fully absorb and flatten out into normal smooth anal skin again (due to the time it takes the clotted blood in the little vein right under the anal skin there to absorb) but they will eventually go away. Aneros use doesn't necessarily cause them, usually it's prolonged standing, constipation and poor bowel habits, etc. In fact, many Aneros users observe they gradually get to having less hemorrhoids over time as they begin to get better anal tone with Aneros use. I've not used the Peridise set myself, but it is supposed to be the most therapeutic of the Aneros devices for speeding the healing of hemorrhoids.
I figure it was most likely hemorrhoids, I was just wondering if they could have been caused by the aneros since I had never had an issue before using it. Its just a bummer because I do enjoy it but not if I am going to be caused discomfort if I continue to use it
Having spent my early decades strapped into an airplane cockpit, I can confirm @slimjm 's comments.
Generally, my situation has improved since I started my Aneros practice some six years ago; and, some of these tools seem more therapeutic than others.
Some suggestions:
-- It's re-assuring to get your doc's opinion on what those 'bumps' might be.
-- Identify an ointment or salve that's approved for internal use. Many are not. Others have an anesthetic effect that may just mask pain. (and suppress pleasurable sensations.)
-- Clean your anus and canal with a baby-wipe or rinse before each session.
-- When you lube your Aneros tool, add a swipe of your chosen salve around the stem.

It won't continue, xj129. I think I got a good one when I was first starting, maybe just because of the interest and frequency in trying this as it was new and interesting to me at the first I started it. Over time, continued use helped heal it more quickly than other rhoid's I'd had and I subsequently had less of them with regular use. Actually, when I've had a rhoid, I lube comfortably, like with preparation H which is very soothing and slip a smaller model like the Eupho or Helix in, not so much to have a session, but just to massage and tone the anus and hemorrhoidal tissue area there. It really helps.
Obviously, don't do something to cause increased pain, but go ahead when you comfortably can and use a smaller diameter model with generous, comfortable lubrication and see if you don't heal it faster than you otherwise would.
@xj129,I would agree with both @rook and @slimjm and would strongly recommend the regimen recommended by HIH with the full set of Peristal, (aka Peridise), devices that they supply for the treatment of haemorrhoids. They certainly worked for me having followed that regimen.
I no longer suffer from 'rrhoids although I had suffered from this condition for many years, (having also been a pilot for most of my working life). I like to think that regular use of the smallest Peridise keeps my them at bay.
