I was interested in finding out what type of meditation techniques you guys might use. I would be a complete newbie in the meditation arena. I have a very demanding job that makes me continuously plan and contemplate new ideas which causes my mind to constantly be active. I have trouble sleeping at night because I can't turn my thoughts off.

During my aneros sessions, I also have trouble relaxing and focusing my mind. It always tends to wander or I get a song stuck in my head that is constantly replaying. I just have a lot of trouble focusing my thoughts.

Just interested to see what techniques or places you guys could direct me to get this journey started. Much appreciated!!!

@kguy17, I find a simple mantra meditation most successful. I couple the mantra to my breathing, one syllable on the in breath and one on the out breath. It takes some practice. I often use it with Aneros inserted as well. More info if required.

Great website: http://www.wildmind.org/meditation

I like the Buddhist meditation techniques (shamatha and vipassana). There is actually a lot to learn about meditation if you want to take it further. Of course there are plenty of other approaches, as @isvara suggests, that you can take.

When it comes to calming the mind it's not easy and takes practice. Lots of good advice on the website above but calm dismissal of thoughts as they come up, accepting that they will arise and not seeing this necessarily as a bad thing, and concentrating on your breathing will help.

I'm finding the process of learning meditation fascinating and very beneficial.

Deep breaths in slow slow slow and exhale slow slow slow. The only thing on your mind is slow deep breathing. It works for me and keeps my mind clear and very relaxed.

Thoughts aren't a problem. Just don't care for them and stop following train of thoughts like they mattered. In the street you don't follow every passerby's full conversation until they end, do you? No need to do it with every single of your arising thoughts either.

Breathing and mantra techniques are just tricks to focus your mind on something else. They are closer to auto-hypnosis. Works. But you don't need to walk with a clutch.

My HMO teaches sitting Zazen meditation and I've adapted that to a horizontal pose. The object is to provide a single point of focus to avoid Monkey Brain random thoughts during the 'pre-arousal' phase of my Eupho sessions. My initial point of focus (to avoid falling asleep) is the back of my throat where my breath turns downward to flow down my windpipe toward my lungs. I've stayed with the HMO recommendation that a good meditation period is 15 sets each composed of 10 'belly breaths.'

That ends in just under 15 minutes when I shift my focus onto Dame Eupho, affirm an Orgasmic experience with a brief Mantra then allow the belly breathing to gently disturb the position of the Eupho.

This is useful to push back against extreme arousal that might lead to an HFWO or a sessions that stalls in a Calm Seas mode.

Hope this helps. ...rook
