Hey guys - I'm still in the newbie phase with my Helix, but wanted to pass along a few tidbits regarding lubrication and prep...

Based on recommendations read here, I tracked down some good quality Shea Butter at a local organic food store, but I had a bitch of a time getting it, ummm, in place. It was a total mess and the process ended up being a turnoff.

After some thinking, I realized that melting the Shea Butter would be the best bet, so I scoop out a couple dollops of Shea with a small metal spoon and dump it into a 1/4 cup metal measuring cup.

The metal measuring cup is then held over a candle and I let everything gently melt. The moment the Shea Butter is fully liquid, I immediately pull it from over the candle and set it aside to cool.

(also, if anything is left on the scooping spoon, I'll melt that, too, and pour that into the measuring cup - no waste!!!)

Before completely cooling, I add a little ID Glide (or comparable lubricant) to the mixture to add volume and help cool things off.

While things are cooling, I'll go clean myself off, if need be.

I'll dip my finger into the mixture a couple times, and once it is cool to the touch (5-10 minutes), I suck7-10ml into a syringe with a long nozzle to get it where it needs to go.

Something like one of these works awesome:

I'm getting closer to the Super O, and getting my prep down to where it's not a burden helps with the whole relaxation process.

d69d,

I too am a great fan of unrefined Shea Butter, and use it almost exclusively. I have a little stock of small balls of it (1.2 to 1.5cm in diameter) which I keep in the freezer compartment of the bar fridge in my study.

Depending on which Aneros model I am planning to use, about five minutes before retiring, I insert one of these little balls into my anus. This ensures that it has melted and is ready to do its job by the time I am ready for it.

I also have a small jar of Shea Butter which I can keep at room temperature. From this jar, I prepare the chosen model by smearing a thin film of Shea Butter on its shaft before inserting it immediately before retiring.

I find this process requires very little time and it involves very little cleaning up.

Would be interested to see if anyone else has tried this method.

Hello d69d, 🙂

Shea butter starts to melt around 76F if I remember correctly. Which if you are in a warmer climate, or during the summer months, ambient room temperature can easily get higher than that. That would account for the mess trying to insert it by hand. Typically during the summer I just keep the whole jar of unrefined shea butter in the refrigerator. And then use a small spoon to scoop out some solid chunks for pre-lube in rectum and anus and to coat the Aneros. There is no major mess this way. The way you are doing it now definitely works as you've found out, and there are a few other users that take this approach. But I find it too labor intensive. I like simple and less time consuming before a session. Less chance for arousal to die off before you get started.

Between the candle flame, the metal spoon and the syringes this sounds like a completely different ritual, and a nefarious one at that !

I'm with Love_is on this one.
