I am pretty new to all these new experiences. Started out using about 2 tsp. with the syringe and goobed up the stimulator a lot with vaseline. When I would insert the stimulator most of the vaseline would come off the thing. Also have learned and felt to feel the stimulator inside of me more with more lube in the canal. My last session I used about 3 tsps and it was great. Felt the Helix snuggle up to my gland and move around freely inside. nood
nood 1963,
Using Vaseline and a lube such as ID Glide or KY is mixing a mineral oil base (vaseline) with a water soluble material. Personally, I insert ID Glide and use KY on the Aneros. This creates a compatibility of substance as both are water soluble and are easily evacuated at the end of the session.
My other wonder is that you say you use 3tsp for best success. This represents 15ml which is quite an amount! None of this is a criticism but more a sense of surprise that you need so much to promote a successful freedom of movement. I generally use up to 5ml internally.

Hi calton,
Thanks for the input. I guess I have read all the different amounts needed and have not had any negative results with this amount. Seems like just 5ml wouldn't create the needed amount for the freedom of movement. Will just use KY from here on out. nood

Whatever shakes your tree!
Just for a change, on the back of what you had related I tried inserting extra lube (10ml) at my last session. It certainly seemed to generate an increased amount of movement - or was that the placebo effect? Will keep going with this one - I'm always open to trying new things!

Instead of starting a new lube thread I thought I would post this here.
I have been using around 5ml of water based Equate brand (KY generic) gel lube in a shooter with a coating of Vaseline as a base. This combination has worked great for a couple years, but the generic KY brand has become hard to find (discontinued?). KY brand is over twice the price, but it works just as well. Since the KY brand is more expensive I am looking at other, possibly better water based lubes to use in my shooter to pre-lube. I am now trying Slippery Stuff gel, but when I remove my massager it appears to be more dry than with the KY generic I was using.
What water based lube do you use in your shooter? Looking for something that is long lasting, keeps the massager wet, and does not break the bank.
I use 5ml of Olive oil internally. It's relatively inexpensive and from my research, not harmful to your body.
I have also tried melted shea butter and coconut oil, they just require more preparation than the Olive oil as it is
ready to use right from the bottle.
The Olive oil works very well for me.
I also make and use homemade 5ml suppositories with melted shea and coconut oil mixed together. I keep them in the refrigerator until needed. They work great for times that I don't want to deal with the preparation and cleanup of a lube shooter for injecting Olive oil. Plus, a little variety keeps it interesting! 🙂
Thanks for the response. I am considering switching to shea/coconut oil sometime in the future, but for now would like to stick with a water based pre-lube for ease of cleanup.
Great thread! Beginning to wonder if I'm not using enough lube now. I've only been spreading a dab of ky on the aneros and a bit on my pucker...just enough to get it in. Hmmmm I 'll have to explore this further...
This question is for Ananewb-Wow... Please share how you make the suppositories. What an ingenious idea!

The rule of thumb on lubrication is Too much is just enough !
Please share how you make the suppositories. What an ingenious idea!
The idea for creating suppositories has been around a long time with numerous suggestions. One of the more common techniques is using ice cube trays (the mini-cube designs), simple melt your shea butter/coconut oil mix, pour into the trays, let freeze, pop them out and store in a plastic bag in the refrigerator until needed.
The primary function of the lubrication is to assure a minimum of friction between your Aneros and you. Since the rectum produces very little in the way of natural lubrication, it is necessary to provide supplemental lubrication to assure a comfortable and irritation free buffer. Understand the amount of Aneros movement generated by your internal muscular contractions is actually very small, so in that sense it doesn't really slide much at all (except upon insertion and extraction). The concept of the Aneros moving freely is just to make sure there is no encumbrance to these small movements.
There has been a continuing discussion on the Forum about lubrication types and issues. Next to discussions about the Super-O, lubrication is probably the next most discussed topic. I recommend you first read the Lubrication paragraph in the Getting Started chapter of the Aneros WIKI and then read through the Bestlube..., Need Help with lube choice, coconut oil, Coconut Oil and Unrefined shea butter..., threads for additional information and insight into this topic.
Most commercially prepared personal lubricants contain glycerin which has laxative effects and depending on the sensitivity of the individual, may cause the dreaded "urge to purge" syndrome cutting short one's Anerosession. However, other individuals seem to be unaffected by the small amounts of glycerin in these lubricants. In any event, glycerin (whether naturally or synthetically derived) is but one of many chemical constituents in these lubes.
As far as I know there have been no long term studies of the health effects of commercially prepared or natural personal lubricants. Because of the frequency and duration of Anerosessions the use of commercial personal lubricants has become a subject of concern for a number of Forum members due to the repeated exposure to the chemical constituents contained in these products and their long term health effects. Many members have chosen to seek out more natural lubricants in hopes of ameliorating any long term negative effects.
There are many choices for natural lubrication, it is more a matter of personal preference which particular lube you choose to use. Olive, coconut, walnut and almond oils are all popular alternative natural lube choices, shea butter is another popular natural lubricant. These natural lubricants do not contain glycerin. The rectal wall is a highly permeable membrane, easily absorbing water and the chemicals therein. While natural oil lubes do get absorbed like water based lubes, the absorption rate is slower and as the viscosity of the oil increases, the absorption rate decreases. Hence lighter weight (low viscosity) oils like grape seed and olive oil will be more readily absorbed and disperse more rapidly than heavier oils (higher viscosity) like almond oil or canola oil.
Personally, I am concerned about the uptake of the various chemicals in commercial 'personal lubricants'. Since I've developed a sensitivity to the glycerin found in many of the commercial lubricants, I've switched to using natural oil based lubricants such as a 50%-50% mixture of almond oil and shea butter or a 67% coconut oil - 33% shea butter mixture or the 'Natural Jelly' formulation. These compounds are safe for use with both the plastic and silicone Aneros models.
Good Vibes to You !
Thank you! I'll read the links above. Im curious to experiment with the above. Now that I think about it, the little bit of lube I've been using probably hasn't been giving my Maximus a chance to do his job. I can't wait till my next session!!
Many thanks, Rumel!!
Funny coincidence, I was thinking about sharing my latest findings on lube for a few weeks but never got motivated to start a thread.

This trick is around for some time indeed and it works great. Started to use this method a year ago and never looked back. 🙂 Instead of ice cube trays, I'm would recommend molds designed for making chocolates/pralines. They usually have a good sized single portion and come with a variety of shapes and forms (just as pralines). I got me this one. Due to the shape, insertion is fairly easy. Depending on the recipe used, it's possible they turn out too big, thus they may not melt properly or too slowly when inserted (because they melt from the outside to the inside).
I've switched to using natural oil based lubricants such as a 50%-50% mixture of almond oil and shea butter or a 67% coconut oil - 33% shea butter mixture or the 'Natural Jelly' formulation.
I switched for the 67% coconut oil - 33% shea butter mixture as well, but I tweaked it a little further. In the ESO-book I found a promising lube-recipe. Unfortunately all petroleum based. But I figured out, what the key idea was.
You'll need:
or in other words:
In the mentioned coco-shea-mix, the coconut-oil is the foundation and shea acts as texture & thickening agent. For me, that was not thick enough, so I added beeswax. It should be harmless, since it's safe to eat. If I remember right, Jelly Beans and other candies are covered with a layer or beeswax to prevent them from sticking.
You won't need much of it. In my very first batch I tried with 20% wax and it wouldn't even dissolve properly. My current batch is made with 10% wax and works just fine. It makes the lube really thick and butter-ish. It will only melt completely upon a little friction.
Tell me what you think about it and in case you try it, how it worked out for you.
Cheers, Unfug

@RJ Rimes : As @rumel detailed above, I simply melt a mixture of Coconut oil and Shea butter at a ratio of 2/3 Shea to 1/3 Coconut oil. I bought a cheap plastic ice cube tray that makes the long skinny ice cubes for water bottles that I pour the mixture into and let it cool in freezer for an hour or so. The pieces end up a semicircle shape about 3 " long x 1/2" wide approximately. I cut them in half or 1/3rds and then store them in a cool place. The mixture can be varied for whatever your preference is. You can also vary the size by how full you fill each cell in the tray. FYI, the cheap plastic trays break easily after being in the freezer, so it's best to use a knife or similar to pry them out of each cell once they are set up, rather than banging the tray on the counter top !
As @Unfug mentioned above, you can use a little beeswax in the mixture to make them easier to handle at room temperature, but I have found that storing them in the freezer works best for me. I take one out of the freezer about 5 min. before I'm ready to ride and it is very comfortable to insert and it melts quickly once inside.
Plus, it' a really nice sensation as well... ! 😉
Enjoy the journey! 😀
@Unfug and @rumel... Thanks for the detailed information! The wheels are already turning... (hopefully in the right direction!). My wife and I make our own lip balms so we have all the oils and the beeswax too. I'm thinking of using the lip balm tubes since I already have a bunch. Maybe using half a tube per session... With my busy schedule I don't know when I'll get around to it. I may have to pull a late nighter...
Thanks again to both of you for taking the time to read and answer my questions so thoroughly!
When I purchased the Eupho Trident recently I also purchased the Marksman lub from Aneros. Although it is expensive it is very easy to complete the prelub. It feels really slippery and my Eupho really slides around. Has anyone else tried the Marksman lub?
I went out looking to buy some shea butter, should have taken my glasses with me. I found some that said it was raw Shea butter, but when I got home and managed to read the label it is a moisturiser. The list of ingredients on the reverse is fairly lengthy, some of which I would have difficulty pronouncing. I am not certain this is what I needed, is the Shea butter I am looking for more of a solid? This stuff I have rubs onto the skin nicely, smells lovely too by the way, but then is absorbed into the skin as you might expect being a moisturiser.
I like the idea of almond oil. Think I might try some.
Looking for another water based lube to pre lube. I am using Slippery Stuff gel at the moment, and it seems to dry up quicker than the cheap generic KY I have been using. Looking for a water based lube that will last longer and not break the bank.
