I'm a 38 year old guy with no history of prostate trouble. Never been to a urologist.
I haven't used my Aneros for several months as I haven't been feeling that playful.
I recently went on an overseas trip that was rather stressful. I didn't sleep well for several nights, ate rich food and got tense and inflamed. I also got a hemorrhoid. The day I got back I hooked up with a girlfriend and we had sex. I hadn't ejacculated in over a week and I had a very powerful, explosive traditional orgasm and when I was cumming I felt pain in my prostate during the contractions. It was brief, but alarming, as I've never felt such a thing.
When I went home, I felt my perineum area and I noticed it was larger and puffier than usual. (Oh no, is my prostate enlarging?!?)
I kind of ignored it for a few days. Then last night I decided to try my Helix Syn. I put it in slowly and did a very gentle self massage with hip movement and mild contractions. I could tell my prostate felt "tender" and more sensitive than usual. This morning I can still feel the tenderness in my prostate as I sit in my desk at work. Nothing major, but something I haven't felt before.
In this likely to be inflammatory prostatis? That's my guess.
Will it go away on its own?
It is OK to use an Aneros to gently massage, even if its tender?
Yes, yes.. I know it would probably be smart to go to a urologist.. and I plan on it... but I don't subscribe to drugs and medical orthodoxy 100%... and want to get Aneros guys' opinions also.
thanks!!!
The only similar feelings that I've had since I started with Aneros was from an electric burn I suffered when a perineum pad came loose during an e-stim session.
Remembering back 50-55 years when I was single in a tropical clime I had a couple of bouts of "Tric" http://www.webmd.com/sexual-conditions/guide/trichomoniasis Some friends told me to, "not sweat it and you'll throw it off." That didn't prove to the the case and the post urination burning along the perineum didn't go away.
I agree.. it's, "smart to go to a urologist"
@RastaYoga,I understand that you may be reluctant to take drugs; even those that are prescribed, but I do believe that you need to get this checked out by a qualified practitioner, even if you decide later not to take what, (if anything), he prescribes.
Good Luck!
I believe there was a recent thread written by one of the members who has suffered from CPPS (chronic pelvic pain syndrome). The malady presents with many of the same symptoms of what many call prostatitis. CPPS can also involve pain in the penis, painful urination & painful ejaculation. Also the worry that you may be having right now about whether this is prostatitis may be contributing to your on-going stress level.
I too have been diagnosed with CPPS (actually called "Levator Ani Syndrome") by my colorectal surgeon that does my colonoscopies. He told me that stress is a contributing factor to the rise of this problem. He taught me to recognize that the source of my pelvic pain was not the prostate gland itself but rather muscle knot(s) that cause similar symptoms to prostatitis. It required me to do finger exploration myself inside the rectum to find the location of the tightness along the rectal wall in my pelvic musculature. Through this process I was also able to feel my prostate that when stimulated by my finger elicited no discomfort...however when my finger found the tight muscle and I pushed on it...it was quite painful. Some people massage this tender muscle spot as a therapeutic exercise for help correct the problem.(look for the other thread recently written).
The only reason I share this is because you said you've never had prostate issues in the past and that your prostatitis arose while you were traveling and under an unusual level of stress...high stress can be a trigger for a CPPS episode. That being said, I think it would be wise to visit your urologist and have him check out your prostate...but you might mention to him the thought of CPPS or Levator Ani Syndrome.
My condition has come under control by using ANEROS and trying to use my mind to relax my pelvic muscle. I also found daily sitz baths in water as hot as you can take it along with Advil anti inflammatory helped my condition. I still occasionally get an episode but I now know exactly what it is.
From my experience prostatitis that requires medical treatment to correct(Rx) is accompanied by symptoms such as significant flu-like body ache/muscle/joint pain, fever, significant lower back pain among others which are similar to CPPS.
I'm not a doc...but share my experience to be helpful to you in your decisions how to proceed. I wish you good luck,
Thanks guys!
sounds just like when i had it myself, as a result of using the aneros and other devices though, ironically its through the use of the aneros once again that i was able to relieve it again (mostly anyways)
Ok. This is NOT medical advice, but it is "informed" by medical advice. Most real prostatitis is inflammatory and may be a manifestation of a lower urinary tract infection. I believe that in most cases, unless a culture of the prostatic fluid is done (by milking the prostate, and I'll bet that most physicians and even urologists do not do this), the treatments proposed are based on assumptions about it being a form of trichomonas infection. But that is usually in sexually active men of any orientation. Having a prostate irritation, which could also be rightly called prostatitis, can be no different in its symptoms (though it would not be transmitted) and these can include symptoms that you describe. I know from personal experience that sometimes after lovemaking, especially vigorous lovemaking (maybe it happens less at my age), I have felt twinges of discomfort in my prostate zone. So, perhaps that is a form of it. If you are sexually active, and/or if it persists you should definitely see a urologist. Until your appointment, taking Advil or like NSAID's medication (non-aspirin pain meds) and sitting in Sitz bath, perrhaps with Dead Sea (Ahava brand) bath salts may help. The latter, by the way, is nice in any case....Good luck.
It doesn't sound like you have an acute infection as in acute bacterial prostatitis. That makes you rapidly sick like with shaking chills and fevers, and you're not sitting around trying to decide if you need to see a doctor and get antibiotics for it--you're so sick you'll go get anything possible done to treat it.
Sounds more like you just had some prostate congestion and with simple measures like drinking plenty of fluids and masturbating often to "clear the pipes" for a while should resolve it. Of course for any persistent symptoms you should see your urologist, but you're too young to have cancer or other scary things, so there's nothing like that to get worried about.
