I appreciate that this forum is aimed specifically at the Aneros products, but wondered if some could chime in.It wasn't until recently that the idea of having this dawned on me. To clarify, I can get an erection fine if suitably aroused.
What is odd, however, is my muscles for the penis feel inactive. Going back to the teens I could get an erection with a sort of 'pumping' motion in the PC muscles. It'd flex it. Nowadays, trying to do this causes the penis to retract.

More so, the shaft of the penis feels numb which I don't think is right. Trying to ejaculate by stroking only the shaft is fairly hard.
Bit of researching into ED mentions that the cause can be either psychological or physical. In my case it may be the latter, with damaged nerves or something.

On the other hand…is this simply normal, and I'm over thinking it? Neither circumstances has caused any particular problems so far.
I'd ultimately want to see a doctor, but private healthcare is a little expensive at the moment, and likewise can't really register with a free GP.

Edit:
To add, the head is obviously still sensitive and it's been my main way of ejaculating. I rarely used the shaft.

You don't mention your age. That may be a factor in the discussion.
You don't mention whether you erection is really 'tight'.
Do you you know your 'T' levels.
Edit
Nitrous Oxide: some light reading!

As a guide if you are getting morning erections it's probably psychological, especially at your age, and you say you can get an erection most of the time so it makes it almost certainly the case. In fact do you really have ED as you can get an erection when you want? Low testosterone or neurological causes of ED are rare.

Getting an ejaculation by stroking the shaft is difficult for anyone I think.

Yeah, I think you may be right. Thinking on it today, the whole 'pumping' thing during the teens could actually have just been untrained PC muscles, and a far more likelihood of premature ejaculating. The shaft aspect is reassuring to hear though! Glad its not just me.

Regarding your numb shaft, see if this hits home:

It seem to be primarily based on anecdotal evidence, but experience suggests a lighter touch results in increased sensitivity.

My Urologist attributes a history of smoking and/or sleep-apnea as major risk factors among his E.D. patients. So, don't focus on just the 'quick fixes.' Interruption of one's morning wood or depriving the Cavernosa of well oxygenated blood on a regular basis can decrease it's sensitivity to Nitric Oxide.

He suggests that every male should have one or two, 10 to 20 minute periods of penis erection every 24 hours and hands out inexpensive penis pumps to first-time E.D. patients to make this come true if Dame Nature isn't working.

As pointed out by @Isvara there are multiple E.D. cause factors and those are are best diagnosed by a professional. Hunt for a Urologist that has a fair-sized E.D. patient load. If you are near a large University with a Medical School search out a consult with their Urology department. The Aneros Forum and Chat have a couple of members who drive over 50 miles to pay very nominal fees to access clinical care that's top notch.

There are excellent support groups on the Web. The classic -- alt.support.impotence -- (name comes from it's days as an IRC group). Guys there have practical expertise in the areas of PDE-5 inhibitors, Hormone augmentation, Implants and Caverject type injectibles (Bi-mix, Tri-mix etc.) Yahoo places most of those in the Adult Group area which isn't open to the general public until an individual is "approved" by a group manager. Once a new member has jumped through the 'free admission hoop' the resources are comprehensive and of high quality.

Google for: ALT SUPPORT IMPOTENCE YAHOO

Although the following wiki is a bit "protracted" it might help clarify some of the Brain-Nerve-Muscle Chemistry-that supports erection. Suggest the following path of investigation to 'ground' your observations:

This is a subject of interest to me at 40 years old. Which at this time I still have not had problems but there was a. In time approximately two to three years ago where there was a little concerned. I was overweight and I have two bulged discs in my lumbar spine. I had an accident and that caused them Plus but very flat back. And my thyroid was uncontrolled. With the loss of 20 pounds and control thyroid and the use of regular Sun Salutations from yoga practice I have regained all of my erection capacity and with the use of Aneros, I have become longer and thicker. So my suggestion is make sure your thyroid is correct and consider your back make sure the nerves have full open space and consider your blood vessels making sure they are not full of junk like tartar and plaque. For the blood vessels , C the Master Cleanse book by Stanley Burroughs.. it is a very useful way to get the body to work the way used to.

At 26, DarkEngine, you shouldn't have any physiologic factors going on so I wouldn't spend the money on seeing a doctor or getting lab work or any exam done at this age. Your ability to get erections seems quite normal for your age and I don't think you could label your concerns as E.D. related. I don't know that any physicians are going to be able to give you any help on sensations you feel or don't feel or how these may have changed since your teens. That's been a long ways back for me, but I smile when I think of how sensitive and responsive everything down there was at the time. For most guys, even though the shaft is sensitive and feels good when stroked, it's the underneath side of the glans near the tip that's the typical G-spot and which requires friction/stroking for ejaculation to occur. At least I'm like that and I think most other guys from what I've heard are.
