To all the rewired users: I am going in for a colonoscopy and wondering if I might have strong contractions during the procedure? I know they give you a relaxant but being rewired I might still have involuntaries, or a couple of orgasms. This could be embarrassing, at the least but I wouldn't want to harm myself. Is this something I should ask my doctor about, or not to worry?
Bobandy,
Don't worry about embarrassing yourself, the doctors and nurses have seen it all and guess what?
They don't care if you orgasm or not.
Furthermore, because this is a non-sexual procedure you are very unlikely to become aroused and if you are having a sigmoidoscopy it is likely the relaxant drug is going to make you very sleepy and the muscles aren't going to want to move at all. If you are going in for a full colonoscopy, then it is very likely they will put you into a fully anesthetized state (unconscious) until the procedure is finished, you won't feel a thing.
Good Vibes to You !
Bobandy. Thanks for the question, for I was wondering about the same thing. Thanks Rumel for info.
For a colonoscopy they will put you out like a light. I believe they have to move the body quite a bit and if you are at all conscious you would get in the way and hurt yourself.
Thanks Rumel, That was my line of thinking but I thought I would ask. I didn't want to start "thrashing around" during the procedure.
Had mine in the Fall of 2012. You'll be out like a light.
Knocked out, no problems. Preparing for it is worse than the procedure. Good that you are doing it!

Nothing relating to you being "rewired"--or ever how far along you may be with the rewiring process--will present a problem with your having a colonoscopy. You will be completely out and they usually give a drug that completely relaxes the normal contractions of your colon so that they can inflate your colon with air and thus see all the surfaces of it adequately during the examination. Absolutely nothing will happen that will be embarrassing other than that everyone gets to see your anus and your insides, but if they've got a lick of sense, they'd be doing this important test on a regular basis too.
Oh yeah, and there's lots of preps (which will be the most disagreeable part) for getting your colon cleaned out thoroughly for the procedure. The one I liked the best was to eat absolutely nothing the full day before the exam (you'll feel like you're starving to death) but drink plenty of clear liquids then late in the afternoon/early evening before the day of your exam drink a 64 oz container of orange Gatorade into which you've mixed a 14 dose bottle of Miralax powder. Mix this up earlier in the day and refrigerate it and it will be easy and tasty to drink. (You actually have to pour out a little of the Gatorade from the container to get all the powder in there and dissolved well).
Once you start drinking have a bathroom staked out that NO ONE else will use for the entire evening and get a big stack of magazines to read and a comfortable chair to sit in near the bathroom door. Your bowel movements will come rapidly and uncontrollably but (usually) won't hurt or cramp like if you'd taken a stimulant laxative. Also ahead of time buy a little tube of A and D ointment like they use for the baby's behind when he gets diaper rash and apply it generously to your anus after about every other evacuation you'll have. And BLOT with soft toilet tissue, DON'T WIPE.
The procedure itself as everyone else has said is a piece of cake. It's just knowing some of the little tips to make the prep less uncomfortable that make all the difference in the world. Good luck to you and hope all is well with your insides.
