1) I've read a lot of posts concerning the do-nothing technique. Can someone verify that you are supposed to be completely relaxed including no intentional contractions or partial contractions of any muscles affecting the aneros device? Some other posts mention maintaining a partial contraction for the duration of the session. Others seem to say complete relaxation.
2) When I relax, I follow the protocol I learned during hypnosis training, relaxation starting and the head and moving slowly down to the toes. When done, I am completely relaxed. Is this the type of relaxation required for the do-nothing technique?
3) Do I need to be focused intently on the feelings in the prostate during relaxation or can I let my mind wander?
I prefer the do nothing method. Which means for me breathing into the prostate area and relax and the same time. I hardly ever do partial contractions. I try to see an aneros session as a kind of meditation, with the prostate as the sacred centre.
Regarding point 2, recently someone mentioned here: there is no end to relaxation. Like it is infinite, you can always relax more. Like small kids, they can be totally relaxed, fall asleep anywhere. I try to go back to that state if that makes sense to you. Also I notice that in the morning when I wake up, my body is much closer to that state of total relaxation. No surprise, partly thanks to aneros, I wake up with a hard on regularly (I am in my 50's). I guess that has a lot to do with pure relaxation.
Re 3. Focus on the prostate area I find really important. I try to get into a sort of higher state if that makes sense to you. Like when you smoke weed. Part of the focus for me is to observe with my mind what I feel in my prostate area. Observe every small sensation there. Like an open mind, curious, ready for new experiences. Again I see it as a meditation. If I have thoughts during a session, I try to centre them around the prostate. In my mind I say to myself e.g. let go, surrender, trust your body.
Yesterday I made a 2nd blog entry on this site. Maybe helpful for you as well.
For me do nothing means a 15% contraction, after a while it takes over and you can relax totally
1) Can someone verify that you are supposed to be completely relaxed including no intentional contractions or partial contractions of any muscles affecting the aneros device? There are no formal rules governing the techniques one may employ for enjoying their Aneros devices. It is better to be flexible in one's approach and avoid assumptions about what one is
"...supposed to be" as well as limiting conditions such as "...completely relaxed...". I agree with @gdunn's statement "...there is no end to relaxation." Relaxation may never be complete so please don't set yourself up for disappointment by setting a goal which is unobtainable. Deeply relaxed may be a better term and goal applicable here.2) When I relax, I follow the protocol I learned during hypnosis training, relaxation starting and the head and moving slowly down to the toes. When done, I am completely relaxed. Is this the type of relaxation required for the do-nothing technique? That sounds like an excellent approach, whatever method of relaxation which works for you is fine. IMHO, trying to label a type of relaxation is not really going to help you here, if you are relaxed that's good enough, you can always take yourself into deeper levels of relaxation to further enhance your Anerosessions.3) Do I need to be focused intently on the feelings in the prostate during relaxation or can I let my mind wander?I think it is quite natural for our minds to wander a bit during an Anerosession but as I mentioned in the thread "Do Nothing" What does that mean?, "...it does not mean you dispense with mental activity you would also employ with the active techniques. i.e. You still employ fantasy thoughts and erotic imagery to build your arousal, you still concentrate on the pleasurable feelings being generated,..." I hope that clarifies things for you.
Good Vibes to You !
The "do nothing" technique is defiantely what got me over the edge. Perhaps the fact that doing nothing goes against what we usually have to do to get pleasure is so counter intuative is what makes it harder to get use to this. I take it a step further and tell my mind that my body will do what it needs to do without me getting involved, which normally leads to amazing things!
I've recently been curious about this as well; my contractions can progress an orgasm but also hinder it some aspects. Painkillers last night made me drowsy, and by proxy, more limp — orgasms were as such that it felt like adrenaline. It made me think that maybe I should avoid contractions where possible and see how that goes?
In some respects this lines up with users citing how much weed bolsters their sessions, and why wet dreams occur for me. (Arousal peaking when asleep, that is, as relaxed as possible.) Wondering if contractions absorb potential pleasure waves, similar to how we naturally tense before potential injury.

Interesting analogy.
