Hi, all.
This is my first post. By way of introduction, I am a heterosexual male in my late 40's, married over 20 years. I'm also a new user of the Helix (three sessions so far).
My question regards the recommended 10 - 20 minutes of relaxation after insertion to become accustomed to having the massager in place. Even the first time I used it, I have no problem with insertion and am immediately comfortable with having the Helix in place. So I usually begin contractions right away rather than after a 10+ minute delay. No orgasms yet, but definitely pleasurable.
Does anyone see problems with skipping this initial relaxation step? Do advanced users still do the 10+ minutes relaxation?
Welcome aboard, Emrold! I tried the relaxation bit the first couple of times with my MGX; and, it was ok; but, then I included my wife of 20 years into my Aneros journey. Since then, I've dispensed with any formal relaxation period. By the time I give my beloved a soothing body rub with some Kama Sutra oil, my balls are rolling and my anus is as relaxed as it ever gets! At this stage, I'll often have my wife slip one of my Aneros into place; and, we'll continue our mutual journey for another hour or so. Other times, after my wife and I finish our time of sharing and I'm again fully relaxed as a result, I'll lube up and slide in my Helix or Progasm and let things ride as I doze on and off for an hour or two. This latter approach may not bring an instant boom-bang result; but, the morning after is really special! You'll find, Emrold, that after a while of trying things out, you'll come up with your own routine. Most importantly, relax and enjoy every single tingle that comes your way --- and hopefully you can share these tingling delights with your wife. 😉
I'm relatively new at this, but having great results.
I basically always attempt the lengthy relaxation period - if nothing else, it's good for getting the lube worked around - but then usually am swept away by the involuntary sensations within about ten minutes. This seems like a good best of both worlds to me.
It's become a ritual for me to take my evening shower with my Helix inserted. Even if I remove it afterward, I try to train myself having it in there. I end up looking forward to it. It went a long way to taking my discomfort away.
Also, it works as a relaxation state because I like to take longer showers. 10-15m of slightly scalding water on my back steaming up the room is perfect. Wash and relube before I get out, and I'm ready to relax on the bed to whatever is playing on Winamp at the time. 🙂
Hello Emrold, 🙂
I think it depends on the person. And how quickly they are able to relax their anal muscles so the Aneros feels comfortable while inserted. For myself, it doesn't take more than a few minutes for that to happen. But what does take longer is waiting for the Aneros to equalize with your body temperature. That's when it truly feels right. Go with what feels right to you.

Thanks for all your responses!
Last night I inserted the Helix before going to bed (using 100% shea butter as lube). I definitely had many pleasurable periods overnight (P-waves and involuntaries?) but they only happened right as I was about to drift off to sleep. I didn't use any deliberate contractions or controlled breathing at all during these times. I maybe had three of these "pleasure events" during the 7 hours it was in.
Very rewarding, but I wish I could make the good feelings happen when I want them to, rather than having them "sneak up" on me when I'm about to doze off!
Same here! Just as I doze off to sleep, the dang thing starts something and jolts me awake, so sleep is almost nonexistant anymore. Last spring, I had some really successful overnighters, but since my prostate troubles and changing lubes, it just isn't comfortable and I can't get any good feelings. Last night was the most successful since spring, with several P-waves, before finishing off with a T-orgasm.
Good for you, Emrold.
